About Me:

Hi folks! My name is Dave Custer.

I am a 22 year old, born again, saved by the blood, Christian.
I got saved in 2000, shortly after my dad started pastoring a church in Georgia.
I am eternally secure, saved by grace through faith, in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
H2O did not save me!
Denominationally, I'm independent, fundamental, KJV bible believing baptist. If you are interested in what I believe doctrinally, just ask. I'm a chatty person, when given the opportunity!
I attend an Independent Baptist Church. I am the fill-in song leader, I participate in Sunday afternoon scripture sign ministry, and I was recently cleared to accompany two other church guys in the juvenile detention ministry.

I am originally from central Georgia...a town named Griffin, about 50 miles south of Atlanta. I was raised a farm boy! I took care of chickens, cows, pigs, goats, etc.
Atlanta over grew our town, so we sold out and moved to Columbia Kentucky in 2008.

I currently live with my parents and two younger brothers on our 60 acre farm here. I say farm, but currently we don't have any animals. "Let me there is no time....let me sum-up." We had animals, now we don't, maybe we will in the future.

I believe in treating animals properly! Hitting a cow, 'cause you were standing in front of it when it sneezed, is unacceptable behavior. Proverbs 12:10 "A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast:"
I'm no animal rights nut job....I mean activist....but I do believe in giving an animal a good life. For example, God did not create a pig to live on a 10-foot square of concrete all of its life and eat grain. He created that animal to root up the ground, eat grubs, forage, etc. When permitted to dwell in that environment, a hog is one of the cleanest animals on the farm, NATURALLY. Ask me about farming naturally if you are interested! It is something I enjoy, and hope to do more of.

OK so what do I do for a living? Well, I'm a self-employed, full-time blacksmith. I have never shod a horse....that isn't what blacksmiths do.
Blacksmiths make ornamental and functional interior and exterior hardware, gates, rails, etc. I do mostly interior hardware, like bathroom fixtures, pot racks, and fireplace tools.
I also make custom tools for other blacksmiths like hammers. Hammers are a big part of my business. I currently have hammers in four different countries and at least 30 states in the U.S.
A lot of people question the viability of blacksmithing as a full time means of employment. Well, I have enough work to keep me busy five days a week, plus some, so no problems there.
I also teach blacksmithing occasionally out of my shop and abroad.

I am not much on hobbies really. I like hunting, fishing, and that stuff as well as the next guy I guess. I'm not a big sports fan, but I do enjoy any sort of good humored, clean, competition.
I like sailing and sail-boats. I own a 16 foot, 1968 Luger Leeward, that I completely restored. It is a great little sailboat. I enjoy the restoration process as much as the actual sailing. It took me a year to finish it. I had to learn fiberglass work, fine wood working, and finishing to complete the restoration. If you ever want to sail Cumberland lake, give me a holler!
I am an "ex" civil war reenactor. I got out to devote more time and money to my business.
I enjoy muzzle loading firearms. I sold my musket, but I do have a cheaper Hawken rifle and a .44 caliber black powder revolver.
I also have a nice model 1894, Winchester 30-30 lever gun, and a .45 Ruger Vaquero six gun. I enjoy shooting, reloading, and have also done some bullet casting.

What else about me....well I own a sawmill, which is really handy. I know basic rough construction, exterior and some interior finish, masonry, roofing, electrical, and some plumbing, fiberglass, general metal fabrication and forging, and finer wood working.
I play mandolin, guitar, harmonica, and I love singing. I play by ear, and I sing from the heart. I like old hymns, select bluegrass gospel, and traditional Scottish, Irish, and English folk music with good lyrics. I LOVE music!

I am looking forward to meeting a fine young lady, having a family, and spending our lives together. However, I am in no particular rush, and will continue enjoying this portion of my life before I reach the next. If a young lady (or gentleman) can't wait six months or a year longer to get married, then I have my doubts about the sincerity of their "life-long" commitment to each other. I will not be rushed!
I do believe in courtship and in young men and ladies conducting themselves with a strong sense of honor and honesty, one towards another. I believe a young man should obtain the permission of a lady's father before attempting to develop a serious relationship with a lady.
I also don't care too much for a lot of the formalistic "traditions" a lot of people like to incorporate into the idea of courtship.
It really is as simple as a young man trying to get to know a young lady.

That's about it. Social media is nice, but it has cheapened the term "friend" so I'll let someone who has never been on Facebook or any Internet forum, define friendship for us, in closing.

"True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity, before it is entitled to the appellation."
General George Washington
