National Reunion Update - your input needed!

Wed Jan 18, 12 12:15 am

We're working to finalize arrangements for the host 2012 facility this year (location yet to be announced), and there's something we'd like your feedback on...

As you know, we go to great lengths to keep the cost of the event as low as possible, and one of the greatest expenses is the venue itself.

Summer weekends are prime-season for reserving retreat and conference centers, so one option that's surfaced this year is the option of having the event midweek; Tuesday thru Friday instead of the traditional Thursday thru Sunday.

Depending on the facility we choose, a midweek schedule could reduce registration costs by 25-30%.

Homeschooler's like to save money, so the midweek option is compelling, but on the other hand, it would require everyone to take a couple more days off of work, school, etc., so we wanted to reach out to you for your input.

What do you think?

Are you thinking about coming to the 2012 National Reunion?

If so, would a ~25% reduction in cost with a mid-week schedule increase or decrease your likelihood of attending?

Update: We've added a handy little poll option here - please vote, but also weigh in with your comments in reply - it's always good to hear what you're thinking!

This is really cool! Thanks for trying to keep the price down & taking a vote.

As for me, I want to be at all the Reunions till the end of time, but still, any cost reduction will definitely increase my likelihood of attending. Thankfully too, my work allows me to travel whenever I want.

This is a tough question. Razz Cheaper is always nicer and a mid-week reunion would allow time for traveling before and after if the location is a long drive, but taking off work for a whole week would also mean saving more money to allow for those skipped days. Hmmmm...I think I'll have to think about this one a little more. Very Happy I know I want to come though, can't miss reunion #6! Very Happy

The reduction in cost would make it more likely for me to go. Smile I have been wanting to go since I joined but have not be able to for different reasons. Smile Can't wait to hear when and where it is going to be this year. Very Happy

Weekend is better for me because of work/school situations.

Our biggest issue is travel, not schedule. We have flexible work schedules, but the van is on its last leg and I don't think Dad wants us girlies driving it too far away from home this year. LOL Very Happy

Weekdays make everything easier for me as I work weekends. But then again... I'll probably attend ether way.

Distance affects me more than registration cost.

I would imagine for a lot of busy members with full time jobs mid week would be harder. Those people are also probably not on HSA as often for the same reason.

I could come either way, as I'm self employed.

If you want to have a lot less guys attend, then I suggest doing it in the middle of the week. Lots of vacation time can be hard to come by. However, if you would prefer more guys come, I highly suggest doing it over a weekend. Doing it near July 4th was GREAT since some companies actually give day or two off during that time.

Either way works for me. Lower registration costs would be nice. I figure on being gone around a week. So where the weekend falls really wouldn't matter. Very Happy
