My life has changed so much since I first joined, it's past time I update my profile, but I find myself having to rewrite the entirety, because a simple edit isn't sufficient. So, here goes...
I was raised in a home church most of my life, because none of the churches in my area were solid. Because of this, over the last two years especially, I've learned things from my Scriptural studies that separate me from mainstream Christianity. While none of these are issues that should cause dissension among true believers (as opposed to those who go to secular churches and show nothing but worldliness in all their actions- y'all know the type), they do play a major role in the shaping of my life. I attempt to be Torah observant- though currently I'm unable to fully honor the Sabbath, unfortunately; I study Apocryphal books, and hold many of them as at least historically valid, if not actually Scripture; and there are a few other things as well that stem from my belief of the Bible being literal and infallible, when read in context with proper understanding of the meaning of the words. If you're curious to learn more of my beliefs, or why I believe what I do, feel free to message me- I absolutely love discussing everything Scripturally related.
Over the years, I've had many jobs that have given me a large skill set- I'm currently a farmer, landscaper, carpenter, metal worker, and fence builder; for two years I was a cowboy; and I of course know basic plumbing, electric, mechanic, electronic, and other little things that pop up in all the jobs I've had. I want to start blacksmithing, I love gardening, and so I hope to (relatively) soon be able to quit my day job landscaping to have the necessary time to do the other work I enjoy even more (pretty much everything else I listed above- and below...) Which brings me to my two passions:
I LOVE DANCE. No question about it, dancing is my favorite pastime. But, even better than simply dancing, I'm blessed enough to be a dance instructor! My family now owns the dance studio in Cortez, CO, where we teach ballroom, Latin, swing, and country dancing. I never thought I'd enjoy anything more than dancing, but I now know that being able to share my knowledge and passion with others, and watch them grow, is one of the most fulfilling acts I can do. I have been blessed by my Heavenly Father so much, it's even more amazing I get to share it with others. My personal favorite dance is West Coast Swing, but I not only love every style I know, I also want to learn almost every style of dance I don't know. And, I'm a dance historian nerd, on top of everything else.
My other big passion is for Western Music. I perform western and western swing whenever i get a gig or get the chance to travel to a cowboy poetry gathering. So far, I only sing, yodel, and play rhythm guitar, but I have plans of learning lead guitar, fiddle, upright bass, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, piano, harp, and whatever other instruments I can get my hands on.
Other interests include reading (my favorite thing to do growing up, until a job got in the way...), writing, learning other languages (currently studying Spanish, with many more on the sidelines), entomology, physics, math (but it's my one subject I struggle with, so not too much at a time), history, anything old fashioned, HEMA, parkour, old western TV shows and movies, magic tricks, and tons of other things I also have no time to do... 😕 I'm a word nerd, and I call myself a grammar perfectionist; though, you may be able to tell already that I tend to bend some of the rules at times... Also, I'm an introvert- five years ago so extreme I could talk to few people outside my immediate family very long- but now because of music and dance, few people would believe it. So yeah, if you made it this far, you now know almost everything about me... Oh, and I spend a lot more time on Facebook than I do here, so if y'all are interested, feel free to send me a friend request.

Yeah, face to face friends are so nice as compared to virtual friendships! You're going to meet some soon? Do you travel then, or do they come to you?
Dance styles.....mmm.....not as many as I'd like to. I know ECD the best, and just bits and pieces of other styles like swing, ballroom, waltzing. I'm missing a few key ingredients which unhappily detain me from achieving my full potential in this area. But I'm sure all those things will come together down the road, Lord willing!
Well, it's nice to meet you Nolan, albeit in a virtual setting! I guess I'm new enough to not have a bunch of friends yet, but hopefully that will change. I think this site has a lot of potential for meeting new people and making friends that hopefully I can meet in person as well when the opportunity provides itself. I wanted to tell you how I appreciate the fact that you took the pains to update your profile! That was very thoughtful of you. : ) Thank you for saying hi!
